Senior DevOps / Tech Lead - Premium Customer Context (Remote, Worldwide)

Job Overview

We are looking for a senior-level DevOps Engineer / Tech Lead to own and lead the technical delivery for  Premium Customers. This role could be remote or part time at the office and open worldwide.

You will act as the primary technical point of contact for this customer, ensuring reliability, simplicity, and efficiency of the platform. A strong focus will be placed on process simplification, deployment automation, documentation, and knowledge sharing across the team.

You will work closely with all Managed Services team members for merge request reviews, documentation, and procedure proofreading to ensure high quality and consistency.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical lead for Premium Customers environment
  • Own and continuously improve deployment methods, with a strong emphasis on automation and simplicity
  • Collaborate directly with the customer to understand priorities, define tasks, and align technical actions with business needs
  • Design, write, and maintain automation scripts and infrastructure tooling
  • Improve existing automation processes and CI/CD pipelines
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues and lead incident resolution
  • Produce clear, structured documentation (procedures, READMEs) to enable other team members to operate and support the platform.
  • Share knowledge proactively within the team and contribute to best practices.

 

Technical Environment

Must Have
  • Strong expertise with Ansible
  • Solid experience managing virtualized environments
    • ~90% GNU/Linux
      • Debian 11/12/13 (primary)
      • RedHat (minor usage)
  • Middleware experience with:
    • HAProxy
    • Nginx
    • PHP-FPM (8.x)
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash or other scripting languages
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong appreciation for documentation, including writing clear READMEs and operational procedures
  • Understand and manage how a distributed CEPH storage system works
  • Understand and manage how a distributed replicated MariaDB works
  • Being able to organise an upgrade and migration plan without disturbing the production environment.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience
Nice to Have
  • Experience with infrastructure across multiple cloud providers
  • Knowledge of Apache CloudStack or any equivalent like Openstack
  • Microsoft Azure experience
  • Not mandatory but it’s an addon : Basic experience managing virtualized environments
    • ~10% Microsoft Windows Server
      • Microsoft Windows Server 2022
      • Microsoft Windows SQL Server 2022
  • Monitoring and observability tools:
    • Prometheus
    • Netdata
    • Grafana
    • Zabbix
  • Additional scripting/programming skills:
    • Python 3
    • PHP
  • Knowledge of MinIO / S3-compatible storage
  • Good understanding of French

 

Profile We Are Looking For

  • Confirmed/nearly-senior, Gnu/Linux engineer with a strong sense of ownership,
  • Comfortable interacting directly with customers,
  • Pragmatic mindset focused on simplification and reliability
  • Good communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities
  • Very strong view of how to handle specific projects and build documents to follow them
  • Having experience in testing DRP
  • Being able to be persuasive with the customer and take the hat of “being the expert”

Work Conditions_

Open to 100% remote, or part time remote + office

 

Worldwide location, but you need to have at least half a day, Morning or Afternoon in common with Central European Time / UTC+01:00 / UTC+02:00 (During summer time)

 

As part of the role, you may be required to participate in the On-call rotation and occasionally perform night-time operations when necessary
