The role
As a Pre-Sales Technical Consultant supports the sales teams, works with the client to understand their requirements, helps the sales team qualify the opportunity and proposes the optimal solution for the client. The role at BSO is not only sales, it also involves working with global telecoms and data centre providers, and BSO Operations team to ensure BSO delivers world class service to our clients.
The role is hybrid office/home based with frequent international travel required.
Responsibilities
- Supporting Sales activities with technical and commercial expertise.
- Attend customer meetings which are a mix of in-person meetings, conference calls, remote screen share, and so forth.
- Articulate the technical value proposition and key differentiating capabilities to prospective new customers and solutions partners
- Help with technical content for sales and marketing collateral, proposals, and RFIs
- Assess prospective customer needs and uncover requirements for our solutions
- Reaching out to suppliers for commercial and technical information. Providing solutions to Sales with costs and technical specifications.
- Closely collaborate with multiple geographically-distributed sales representatives
- Provide post-sales follow-up, technical training, and consulting
Skills and Knowledge
Mandatory:
- Fluent English, French
- Knowledge of the International Sea Cables, low latency routes
- 5+ years sales engineering experience in telecommunications.
- Technical experience with some other cloud providers certifications (AWS / AZURE / Google Cloud)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related area
- Broad understanding of enterprise information technologies: must be able to interpret performance metrics quickly within diverse customer environments

- Strong problem solving skills: must be capable of accurately assessing needs, maintaining a calm business demeanour, and taking quick action to resolve issues
- Outstanding communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills with the ability to address both executive and technical audiences
- Ability to learn new technologies very quickly and have an ongoing desire to stay current with the software market and the latest technologies
Technical Requirements
- Solid understanding of enterprise-networking technologies: switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and WAN optimization technologies.
- Strong understanding of cloud technologies: compute, virtualisation, storage and networking.
- Strong understanding of carrier Ethernet, OTN, DWDM, SDH, Ethernet, MPLS and alternative access technologies
- Solid understanding of enterprise-architecture concepts: 3-tier architecture, high-availability/disaster recovery (active-active data centres, switch stacks)
- Vendor management and partnership engagement experience
- Wider scope experience on service management, operation, delivery, and procurement will be an advantage.
